Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: 05/17/2026
Business Name: Aequora Bodywork LLC
Location: Portland, Oregon
Website: www.aequorabodywork.com
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using this website or booking our services, you freely agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, including the appended Privacy Policy, and avow that you have availed yourself of any, or no, legal counsel as you deemed necessary in so agreeing. If you do not agree with any of these terms, please do not, and you are not permitted to, use this site or any of our services.
2. Services
Aequora Bodywork LLC (“Aequora,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) offers professional bodywork services, including massage and Structural Integration to the Public (“you,” “your,” “Client,” or “the client”) in accordance with Oregon State licensing regulations. All therapists are licensed by the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists (OBMT) and our license numbers will be displayed in any correspondence or public-facing promotional materials. Our services are intended to promote relaxation, pain relief, and general wellness, and do not replace medical care. Any communications with clients regarding their treatment is informational, and may not be interpreted as a medical diagnosis, prescription, medical advice, or mental health counseling. Please consult with your PCP or other medical professional for whom those services are within scope.
3. Appointments, Cancellations, and No-Shows
Appointments can be made online, or in person.
In-studio appointments will be conducted at Bush Street Wellness Center, 5336 SE Bush St., Ste. F, Portland, OR 97206. From the street, enter through the double doors straight ahead, turn left and go up the stairs. A shared waiting room with adjoining restrooms is on the right. There is no reception staff - please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment time.
For in-studio sessions, if the client has not arrived or made contact with the therapist by 20 minutes after the scheduled start, they will be considered a no-show.
If a client makes contact to notify us of their lateness, it will be at the sole discretion of the therapist to determine whether the remaining time is adequate to conduct a shortened session or if the appointment should be cancelled..
For outcall sessions, we will arrive at the designated location at the scheduled time. We will knock/ring/text and wait for one minute before trying again. If we have received no response, we will wait in the car until 10 minutes past the scheduled appointment time and try again. At 15 minutes past the scheduled appointment time, we will make a final attempt. If we still receive no response, we will consider it a no-show and cancel the appointment. If the client arrives late, but before the therapist leaves, the session may proceed in the remaining time. There will be no reduction in cost or extension of time.
The scheduled appointment time is 60 or 90 minutes, but we do not guarantee that it will be exactly that long. It may be reduced, for example and without limitation, by any of the following:
Client arriving late or unprepared.
The client’s documentation being incomplete, requiring the therapist to spend additional time completing and/or reviewing it at the start of the appointment.
The outcall space being improperly prepared per §11, below.
The outcall location is in an area with limited parking options requiring the therapist to walk farther and/or make multiple trips to bring their equipment.
The therapist was unexpectedly delayed by forces beyond our control, such as traffic accidents or inclement weather.
Verbal and physical assessments, movement education, demonstrations of self-care techniques, and hands-on interventions are all integral parts of a treatment session and are weighed equally withinin the scheduled appointment time.
Reductions in session time for causes under the client’s control will not be compensated, nor will appointment times be extended.
Reductions in session time for causes under the therapist’s control will be fairly compensated on a case by case basis. Remedies may include rescheduling (with no penalty), cancelling (with no penalty and refunding any money already paid), completing the remaining session time at a reduced price, or a reduced fee on the next session. The client will be free to choose from several offered options.
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling, including changing the location of an outcall session. No-shows or late cancellations may be subject to a fee up to 100% of the scheduled service price, which will be charged to the you card you provided when making the booking.
Repeated no-shows, late cancellations, or late arrivals may result in refusal of future bookings.
Any exceptions to these terms are made on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the owner, and do not imply precedent or an ongoing waiver of the terms on future occasions.
4. Minor clients (17 or younger)
We accept minor clients from the ages of 10-17.
All minor clients require a legal guardian to sign the Consent to Treat and Terms and Conditions forms when first establishing care.
Oregon law allows minors 14 and older to make autonomous health-care decisions without the knowledge or approval of a guardian. However, when treating 14-17 year old clients in their homes, we require a legal guardian to be on the premises, though not in the treatment space without the minor client’s consent.
For minor clients 13 years and younger, we additionally require a legal guardian to be in the room, or in an adjoining space with a clear view through an open door throughout the treatment. If the guardian must step away, the treatment session will be paused, and will resume again when the guardian returns.
All clients of any age are afforded complete privacy while dressing/undressing and getting on/off the table.
Minor clients 10-17 are required to keep their undergarments on during treatment. Swimwear is an acceptable substitute.
5. Client Health and Safety
Before your session, please disclose any health conditions, recent injuries (including bruising, scrapes, cuts, scratches, sores, blisters, rashes or other skin breaks), allergies, or if you are pregnant.
The maximum load capacity of the table is 600 lbs. If you are near or above this weight, please do not book, but do feel free to contact us if you need assistance locating a provider.
If you are ill (including with cold, flu, COVID-19, or other communicable illnesses), please reschedule your appointment. If it is less than 24 hours before your appointment, please call or text the therapist at the number you received in your Appointment Reminder email.
You have the right to alter or suspend the treatment at any time. You have the responsibility to immediately notify your therapist if at any time you feel uncomfortable, at risk of injury, or unsafe in any way (e.g. physically, emotionally, etc.).
If you are under the influence of intoxicants, you are unable to give your informed consent and unable to provide accurate feedback during a massage to ensure you are not injured, rendering it unsafe and unethical to proceed with treatment. Please refrain from consuming any substances which may compromise your cognitive abilities, coordination, perceptions, reaction times, or produce unpredictable behavior prior to the appointment time.
We reserve the right to refuse or limit service if a therapist believes massage is contraindicated or unsafe for the client at that time.
6. Therapist Health and Safety
In the event that your therapist is injured, ill, or otherwise unable to fulfill the appointment due to circumstances beyond their control, we will make every effort to notify you as early as possible, and will reschedule your appointment without penalty.
Your therapist is not licensed or trained in, nor equipped for, the safe transfer of clients in and out of mobility devices, nor on or off of the table. For your safety as well as the therapist’s, please ensure you have appropriate assistance on hand or that you are capable of independent transfers. Alternatively, your therapist may be able to adapt the treatment to be performed in your mobility device, but please start that conversation with us in advance at the time of booking.
Outcall (“in-home”) Massage:
Your therapist must have a reasonably safe treatment space to work in, and path with which to reach the treatment space. Please see our FAQ page and §11 below for more details. Any extra time the therapist has to spend preparing the space will reduce your hands-on time; the massage will still end at the scheduled time.
The therapist will not participate in moving furniture or other heavy items.
Pets must be secured in a separate space, including exterior and interior spaces needed to access the treatment space, during the duration of the appointment (from therapist’s arrival to departure). If a pet is not secured upon arrival, the therapist will wait outside for the client to do so. If a dog is in a fenced space needed to access the front door, the therapist will call/text the client and wait outside the gate or in the car until the dog is moved. The client is responsible for these delays which will not be compensated in time or money.
Please refrain, and ask others present to refrain from smoking or vaping any substances in the the treatment space immediately before and during the session.
If the client or other persons on the premises are seen to be under the influence of intoxicants, behaving erratically, or otherwise creating an unpredictable and unsafe environment, the session will terminate immediately.
Prior to entering the premises, the therapist will notify a trusted contact. At the conclusion of the appointment, the therapist will again notify a trusted contact.
If the therapist determines that the environment is not conducive to providing safe massage therapy, they may cancel the appointment, treating it as a late cancelation under §3 above.
Damage to, or loss of the therapist’s equipment due to intentional or negligent acts of the client, including but not limited to the therapist abandoning their equipment in fear for their safety, are the client’s financial responsibility. The cost of replacing or repairing, at the therapist’s sole discretion, said equipment will be immediately charged to the card on file. Your use of our services and your agreement to these Terms and Conditions grants your advance approval for such charges, which will be itemized to you in a receipt. Any attempt to challenge these charges through the card issuer will be aggressively countered and recovery of additional costs will be pursued as outlined in §14.
7. Professional Boundaries and Conduct
As a matter of law and professional ethics, all licensed massage services in Oregon are strictly professional and non-sexual. Any inappropriate behavior, remarks, or conduct by a Client will result in immediate termination of the session without compensation and may result in refusal of future bookings. Cases of assault will be reported to authorities.
Clients must behave respectfully and appropriately at all times.
In accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, Clients receiving unclothed massage will be covered with a sheet (“draped”), and only the region being actively worked will be undraped. Undraped nude massage is against the law in Oregon.
Clients receiving Structural Integration (SI) must be attired appropriately, and should arrive at the appointment with clothing that would be considered appropriate in a public gym or pool. Because of this attire, SI clients will be draped for comfort rather than as a matter of lawful practice.
8. Payments and Pricing
Payment is due in-full at the time of service unless otherwise arranged.
Aequora Bodywork does not bill insurance.
Fees which may be added to the cost of the bodywork itself include
Travel: flat rate of $20 on all outcall massages
Parking: in neighborhoods with metered parking a fee will be charged based on the Parking Kitty rate in Portland ($3.30/hr as of this writing). The time charged will be the appointment time, plus 30 minutes, rounded to the next half hour. For example, the parking fee for a 60-minute massage with an 85-minute appointment time would be $6.60 for 2 hrs of parking (1 hr 25 min + 30 minutes= 1 hr 55 min, rounded up to 2 hrs @ $3.30/hr = $6.60).
Transaction surcharge: domestic credit card transactions will add a 3% surcharge at checkout. Stripe, our payment processor, accepts some international credit cards, but there will be a higher surcharge of 6% charged if you choose to use one.
We accept cash in exact amounts, most domestic credit and debit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. We do not accept personal checks or money orders. We do not carry cash and cannot make change for cash payments.
Prices are subject to change without notice. We honor the rate at the time of booking.
At the time of booking, you will be asked to place a debit or credit card on file to confirm your reservation - it will not be charged at the time of booking. If you don’t use an alternative form of payment at checkout, this is the card that will be charged after the session.
The card on file may also be charged as described in §3 and/or §6.
9. Privacy and Confidentiality
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable confidentiality laws. Information you provide is used only to provide safe and effective services and is never shared without your consent, except as required by law. Please see the Privacy Policy.
10. Website Content and Intellectual Property
All content on this site, including text, graphics, images, and logos, is the property of Aequora Bodywork LLC and protected by copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our express written permission.
11. Disclaimer of Liability
We strive to provide safe and effective services, but we make no guarantees about individual results. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aequora Bodywork and its staff are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage that may result from your use of our services or website.
We are not liable to the client for loss of time or wages for any reason.
We will make every effort to avoid damage to your property while carrying and setting up our equipment and performing the massage, but cannot be held responsible for incidental damage. The client may reduce this risk by preparing their space in advance. For example and without limitation:
Ensuring a path that is at least 36” wide and free of trip hazards from the entry door to their chosen treatment room.
Choosing a treatment space that can be accessed without the need to carry equipment up or down stairs.
Ensuring that the space for treatment has, at minimum, a 9’x12’ space that is free of furniture and trip hazards, and delicate or fragile items have been reasonably distanced from this perimeter.
No liability for Aequora’s failure to perform will exceed the value of the services at the time of booking, and will be further limited so as not to exceed the actual amount paid by Client.
12. Bush Street Wellness Center Policies
By booking an “In-Studio” appointment type, you agree to the following policies:
The treatment space is on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs. We regret that the space is inaccessible to clients whose mobility limitations exclude them, but we are happy to come directly to you for an outcall session. By making an in-studio booking, you are confirming your capability and willingness to ascend and descend the stairs un-assisted.
You agree to be respectful of other providers and their clients in the building by keeping your voice low, not knocking on or attempting to enter any closed door, and respecting the privacy and discretion of other clients in the shared waiting areas.
The building is only available to you for the specific health care appointment you booked, and not for any other purpose. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early, or stay more than 10 minutes after your appointment time. Please do not conduct other business of any kind, or socialize on the premises. There are plenty of local businesses who will welcome you to conduct those activities on their premises.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
Our site may contain links to third-party websites for your convenience. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party websites.
Our site is hosted by Squarespace and/or their parent and affiliate companies. We are not responsible for the conduct, policies, security lapses, or service disruptions that result from any act or omission of any of these businesses.
14. Mandatory Arbitration, Governing Law, and Waiver of Right to Jury or Bench Trial
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the Federal Arbitration Act and the laws of the State of Oregon. You agree that any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved in Multnomah County, Oregon by binding arbitration conducted by a single independent arbiter mutually agreed upon, or in the absence of agreement, assigned by the American Arbitration Association pursuant to its commercial arbitration rules. By accepting these terms you voluntarily waive your right to a jury or bench trial in any court of law. Each party shall be responsible for their own legal costs except as determined by the arbitrator.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time and without notice. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Effective Date.” Continued use of our site or service bookings after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is the Client or website user’s responsibility to review these Terms for changes between visits or appointments.
16. Survivability and Severability
The acceptance of these policies survives the termination by either party of any Client relationship with Aequora Bodywork LLC, whether voluntary or otherwise.
No decision by Aequora Bodywork to not pursue enforcement of any policy contained herein shall be construed as a waiver of the policy unless explicitly stated in writing. Aequora Bodywork LLC reserves the right to pursue enforcement at a later date.
No written waiver of any portion of these policies by Aequora Bodywork LLC constitutes a waiver of any other portion, nor any ongoing waiver beyond what is explicitly written. If no term is specified, it is understood that the waiver is for a single instance.
If any portion of these policies is deemed illegal or unenforceable by an independent arbiter, all other portions will remain in effect without exception.
